A BRIEF HISTORY
Dohertybuild is a building contracting and civil engineering firm based just outside Newry. It was originally setup as a partnership in 1977 by Joseph & John Doherty known as “Doherty Bros.” its steady progression lead to the creation of Doherty Developments in 1990.
The company has since grown into a multi-faceted organisation with interests in general contracting, house-building, civil engineering, and property development. The growth of the company over the thirty years has been quite remarkable. From humble beginnings working on mainly one off housing projects and small commercial developments to a current multi-million pound annual turnover.
As well as turnover, the range of activities and the areas of operation have expanded quite considerably over the last thirty years for Doherty Developments. This has happened in partnership with its sister company P.J. & E.J. Doherty created to mainly operate in the Republic of Ireland market.
We have been rewarded on numerous occasions for its excellence in construction, including local and UK national NHBC award wins, which has lead to a growing reputation of producing quality workmanship of the highest standard. We have recently achieved further accreditation in the form of ISO recognition. In May 2009 we were awarded ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001 for Environmental Awareness and OSHAS 18001 for Health & Safety Management.
